Thanks to all those who came to the Gala Dinner on Friday evening to support the Georgette Salameh Center project. I thought it was a wonderfully uplifting evening where people were obviously enjoying themselves and highlighting the strength there is here at Bethlehem University. The relatives of Ghassan Salameh from Nazareth felt very much at home and enjoyed the opportunity to connect with Bethlehem University.
A special word of thanks to the members of the Advancement Office who made the arrangements for the evening. I know a lot of work is required for such an event and I am deeply grateful to those people who were prepared to support Bethlehem University in the organising and then in attending. It was great to see local support combining with the support from Palestinians in the Diaspora, that was shown during the recent visit Isaac and I made recently to Peru, Chile and Honduras. I am grateful to members of the faculty and staff who attended and encouraged others to attend. Such support makes a significant difference. Shukran and Marbrouk!

With the 50th Jubilee coming up in 2023 there has been a move for some time to get a history of Bethlehem University written for the Jubilee. Dr. Peter Manning, an investigative journalist from Sydney, Australia, has been engaged to write this history which will be finished by the end of 2022. Dr. Manning is here on campus at Bethlehem University until the end of January gathering information in order to write this history.

Fourth-year midwifery students conducted a workshop titled "Be Strong and Embrace Life" in Halhul, Hebron on Saturday, 23 November 2019, in cooperation with the Palestinian Family Planning and Protection Association and with the support of ActionAid Palestine.
The main objective of the workshop was to highlight the role of midwives in defending women especially in matters related to violence by exploring the effects of violence on women and family health, and by defining the Palestinian National Conversion System for family protection.
The women who attended the workshop came from several marginalized places around Hebron who also requested more educational workshops. The workshop was coordinated by Ms. Fatima Al Madani, Coordinator of the Women's Health Course, and supervised by the field trainer, Aya A'bayat.
