New Faculty Orientation Session on Effective Advising II

The CETL organized a follow-up session on Effective Advising II for new faculty members at Bethlehem University. The informative session facilitated by Dr. Muna Matar, a long term- experienced faculty and Assistant to Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Dr. Muna Matar introduced the various policies and regulations about advising Bethlehem University students. She also showed the faculty where to access these policies on the Bethlehem University website for further reading. Dr. Matar explained the policies on probation and dismissals. She emphasized the role of the advisor in knowing the paradigms, the required courses for the minor or major of a particular department and program.

Later on, Dr. Matar gave concrete examples from experience and pointed out how problematic cases could have been resolved earlier if advising was done effectively. The participants in the session were fully engaged in the discussion and asked, yet again, for further sessions on the topic within the different departments and assistance in advising and registration for students.
