Dean of Students Office


Third Stage for Orientation Program

A follow up of the orientation days was organized and will continue during this week by the Dean of Students Office in cooperation with the Faculties and Departments. The Academic, Finance, Social Survey, and Advancement Offices in addition to staff from the Dean of Students Office met with first-year students from the Faculties of Science, Arts, and Education last week. The students were given important information that would guide them to the right channels in regards to academic and financial regulations, and to the different programs provided by the Advancement Office and the Dean of Students Office. We encourage first-year students from the Faculties of Shucri Ibrahim Dabdoub for Business Administration, Nursing and Health Sciences, and the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism to attend the upcoming meetings that will be held this week. 


Sit-in held in Protest of Medical Negligence

Under the supervision of the Dean of Students Office, the Student Senate organized a sit-in to protest the medical negligence of the prisoner Bassam Sayeh who died last week in Israeli prison. During the gathering, speeches were given by Mr. Adnan Ramadan, the Dean of Students; Ahmad As’ad, the President of the Student Senate; and Fadi Ayyad, member of the Progressive Student Action Front.


Fall Performances

The Dean of Students Office organized an event for cultural performances on Thursday, 12 September 2019 in the Amphitheater. Wajd Musical group, Majdal group for Dabka and Folklore, Layali drama group, and BU graduate the musician Ibrahim Abu Laban performed in front of a large number of students.

The Dean of Students Office staff would like to express their thanks and gratitude, greetings, and love to all students in the groups who participated in this event for their commitment and distinguished performances. We hope that more students will be involved in these extra curriculum activities.


Honoring the Palestine Marathon 2019 Volunteers

The Higher Council for Youth and Sport organized a celebration on Monday, 9 September 2019, at the Russian Cultural Center to honor all volunteers who participated in the Palestine Marathon 2019. Some of these volunteers were Bethlehem University students from different faculties who were involved through the Dean of Students Office. We are proud of our dear students and their outstanding performance.


Training Course on "Preparing for the Labor Market"

In cooperation with the Career Guidance Office, the Education for Employment - Palestine organized a training course for 21 female graduates from Bethlehem University. This training is part of the Challenge to Change (C2C) program that the Foundation implements in the West Bank.


Evaluation Workshop

In cooperation with the Career Guidance Office, the Organization for Sustainable Development organized an evaluation workshop for the program they were implementing for a year which involved 30 students.

Brother Vincent Malham Center / Palestinian Traditional Music Archive


The Brother Vincent Malham Center - Palestinian Traditional Music Archive at Bethlehem University launched the Heritage Storyteller Project called "Sho Sar ma Sar Hekayet Hesar" (What happened: a tale of the Church of the Nativity siege) with the efforts of students under the supervision of their professors. The project shows a culture of Christian and Muslim religious tolerance during the 2002 siege. It consists of 20 episodes (video, audio, and written) which targets children and young people at schools and universities.

Department of Mathematics


The Department of Mathematics invited Dr. Akram Almohalwas to give a talk about his current work titled “Data Mining with R with application to the Bible text” on Monday, 9 Septemeber 2019, in Br. Joe Hall. Dr. Akram graduated from the Department of Mathematics with a minor in Physics. He received his Ph.D. in 2010 from Central Michigan University. He is currently working as a continuing lecturer at the University of California – Los Angeles. Faculty members, science students, and members from the EIS unit attended the lecture which was followed by a discussion.
