Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences /Qubeibeh

 

Third year Qubeibeh nursing students conducted The annual Health Day on Tuesday 16/4/2019, coordinated by Dr AbdMuhsen Abu Fanouneh and supervised by the clinical instructors Ms Fadiah Owesis and Ms Faten Balbisi with the participation of the UN-Beit Surik Clinic. The activities of the day included several health corners: Dental health, Nutrition, Blood tests and grouping, First aid for fractures, nose bleeding and sun stroke, Eye health vision acuity test, Text syndromes and how to prevent spinal cord complications and a big corner for stress management which included stress relieving exercises.
More than 350 persons attended the day, mainly school students from Qubeibeh area and Ramallah, Schools Health Dept. and parents. Attendees thought the event very successfully highlighted important information and health messages.

 

Department of Physical and Occupational Therapy

 

Last Wednesday, 17 April, Bethlehem University and Hope Flowers School, jointly presented an autism awareness event. Different booths gave students and outside visitors an experience of what it is like to have symptoms from the autistic spectrum. The event was well attended with many schools and organizations. Hope Flowers School is one of the placements where the occupational therapy students train. Working with them in this exercise was beneficial to both parties.

 

The previous week, the Physiotherapy clinic therapists organized a free open day for on hand therapy. The day was supervised by Ms. Bateel Mummer and Mr. Ibrahim Salhab, with Mrs Jane Jetteries adding her consultancy skills.
Mrs. Jeffries is a British physiotherapist visiting from the UK and is specialized in treating hand disorders. Thirty five patients including staff, students, and outpatients attended this day with different diagnostic disorders. They were clinically evaluated and given needed instructions and therapeutic advice.

Department of Mathematics

 

On April 15th, the Department of Mathematics invited Prof. Ahmad Khamayseh from the Palestine Polytechnic University to talk on “Modelling and Simulations in Applied Sciences and Engineering”. Prof. Ahmad was a former scientist at the US department of Energy, working for twenty years in this field. The talk was not too technical but rather stressed the importance of mathematics and science in real problem situations.

Shucri Ibrahim Dabdoub Faculty of Business Administration

 

On Monday, 22 April 2019 Mr. Alex Hadweh took a group of his investment and finance course students to visit the Palestine Exchange in Nablus. They were welcomed by Mr. Mohamad Khraim, the public relations officer, who gave the students a brief introduction about the exchange, its operations, and the Palestinian stock market. The field trip was enriching and gave the students more insight into how things are done in real life.

Participation of Wajd musical group in the Fourth Palestinian student’s Festival for Culture and Arts

Wajd musical group, under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, participated in the Fourth Palestinian Students festival for Culture and Arts, held on Monday, 15 April at Al Quds University. Organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, 12 Palestinian Higher Education institutes participated in this festival which aimed to enhance the Palestinian cultural scene and revive the Palestinian prisoners’ day. We would like to thank Wajd musical group for their beautiful performance.
