Faculty of Science

As per the Science Council's decision to have activities during the science hour, a lecture entitled “Einstein's Theory of General Relativity” by Dr. Nidal Haddad from the Department of Physics was held on Monday 11 March 2019. Faculty members and science students attended the lecture which covered the basic ideas leading to Einstein's theory of general relativity in a simple and illustrative manner. Dr. Haddad explained the word "relativity" as understood in physics, and briefly reviewed some basic points in the Galilean and the special relativity. Then, he showed how general relativity enters the game, putting a stress on the equivalence principle, and on some thought experiments concerning the freely falling elevator. Finally, he talked about the success of general relativity by discussing three classical tests: Light bending, precession of the perihelia, and gravitational red-shift. At the end of the lecture the floor was open for questions and comments.

Dean of Students' Team in Orientation Days

The Dean of Students Office team participated in the orientation days for Injaz students. In cooperation with Palestinian Universities, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education organized the orientation days during February and March of 2019. The team participated as members of the recruitment committee and as the Dean of Students office team in the events held at Al-Quds University, Dar Al-Kalima for Arts and Culture College, the Arab American University, and Birzeit Univeristy. This participation is considered as the first communication with Injaz students who are expected to join universities. This would also help us in setting our plans for our orientation days welcoming new students.
