Department of Physical and Occupational Therapy

As part of their clinical training working with the University's Resource Center for Students with Disabilities, the senior O.T. students began a weekly disability awareness campaign. Each week the O.T. students will give others the chance to experience what it is like to have a disability. This week was about using a wheelchair. Students were not willing to try at first, afraid of others looking at them and what they might think. The students senate and a few others broke the ice, afterwhich many were willing to try. The upper body strength and skills needed surprised many.

Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

CETL conducted its first roundtable discussion for the semester on "Teaching Freshman Students: Challenges & Successes" on Thursday, 24 January 2019. Faculty from all programs and Departments attended the event, discussed, and outlined major issues pertaining to the teaching and learning process. Unanimously, they agreed that there is an urgent need to bridge the gap between school and university. They also listed themes and skills to help students navigate life on campus and prepare them for future careers. They showed interest to continue this discussion and start working on revising the core curriculum.

Palestine Marathon

In preparation for the seventh annual Palestine Marathon, a meeting was held between staff of the Dean of Students' Office and representatives from the Higher Council for Youth and Sports. The meeting aimed to encourage Bethlehem University students to volunteer in preparation for the marathon, which will be held in Bethlehem on Friday, 22 March 2019. There is a need for student volunteers who are fluent in English or any other foreign language to assist in the marathon logistics for local and international runners.

On the other hand, it was agreed to organize a workshop on the electronic platform for volunteering, which will be held on Wednesday, 30 January 2019, at 11:00 AM in M001.
