The Partners of NUR project

Cordially invite you to the workshop:

Power your Business with Renewable Energies

The NUR project is the result of a Cooperation agreement between Bethlehem and Turin municipalities and promotes Environmental Sustainability and related Businesses Creation.

In details, the project enhances and promotes the increase of Renewable Energy Systems production in Bethlehem through PV plant installations, both on an urban and micro scales, while, at the same time, it foresees the implementation of training programs addressed to young people, on renewable energies and entrepreneurship, through the support of Start-Up enterprises in the field.
By this joint action the project promotes economic local development by enhancing Public Awareness, Technical and Vocational training as well as Entrepreneurship Formation.

The NUR project, co-funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, covers a 3-year period, until January 2021.

Department of Physical and Occupational Therapy

On Monday, 12 November 2018, the second year Occupational Therapy students joined in the annual olive harvest at the Four Homes of Mercy residential care home for people with disability. Other organizations were also invovled. The event included games and a joint breakfast after the olives had been picked.

Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences

The fourth year midwifery students held two workshops through their clinical course requirements "women's health". The first workshop entitled "hand in hand to face violence against women" was held on Thursday, 8 November 2018, in cooperation with Alrowwad Cultural and Arts Society in Aida Camp. Students presented many activities including a role play on exploring gender based violence and its effects on women's health. The National Referral System by MOH (Takaml) was also highlighted and explored.

The second workshop entitled "enjoy as the best years of your life have just started" targetting menopausal women was held in cooperation with Arab Women Union in Beit Sahour on 10 November 2018. Students prepared presentations on menopausal issues and a role play about several health, psychological, and social needs for the target group.

These two workshops were done to meet the needs of the local community. Mrs. Fatima AL-Madany, the women's health course coordinator, supervised and coordinated the worshops which saw excellent attendance and interactions.

Office of Human Resource

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Adnan Ramadan, the successful candidate for the position of Dean Of Students. Mr. Ramadan is a graduate of Bethlehem University in Sociology, 1994. After his graduation, Adnan worked in different institutions as a social worker, Manager and Executive Director. In 2010, he was awarded his Master's Degree in Arabic Studies from Birzeit University. Adnan will commence his duties as the Dean of Students on 9 January 2019.

Our Colleague Mr. Omar Mousa Khalil, Lecturer in the Faculty of Education will be in charge of the Position “Dean Of Students” as an interim Acting Dean on Part-Time basis starting from 20 November to 20 December 2018.

Bahrain Universities Model United Nations Conference

George Bael, a senior student majoring in Business Administration, participated in the 14th Bahrain Universities Model United Nations (BUMUN) conference in the Kingdom of Bahrain on 21-22 October 2018. He was 1 out of 4 students from Palestinian Universities who were selected by the Palestinian Higher Council for Youth and Sports in cooperation with the Dean of Students in order to represent the Palestinian delegation to the conference. At the end of the conference, George has been named as one of the top 5 delegates of the committee and received the "Diplomacy Award".

Congratulations to our dear student George Bael, we are so proud of you.

Department of Arabic

Chairperson of the Department of Arabic Dr. Said Ayyad gave a lecture on “the culture of dialog and the acceptance of others” at Hebron University in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the Arab Association for Literature. Faculty members and students attended the lecture in which Dr. Ayyad discussed the cultural, political and social dilemmas that produce the culture of conflict in the Palestinian society. It was followed by an important discussion.

Chairperson of the Department of Arabic Dr. Said Ayyad participated in a seminar entitled “combating hate speech” that was coordinated by the International Federation of Ethical Journalism in cooperation with Care Organization in Ramallah. Dr. Ayyad presented a paper on “hate speech references in Palestine and its cultural system”. He also presented a proposal with others to prepare a manual containing terms that are contrary to hate speech terminology.
