Dean of Students Office

“Jerusalem in The Eyes of Its Youth”
Afaq group from the Cultural Activations Unit in the Dean of Students Office organized an activity entitled “Jerusalem in The Eyes of Its Youth”. This activity focused on the role of Jerusalemite youths in the revival of the Holy City and the preservation of its identity. The group hosted prominent young figures in Jerusalem who are: Bashar Abu Shamseyyeh, the student photographer Khalid Salem, and the coach and player of Parkour Sami Batsh. They talked about Jerusalem the way they see it, and they advised the students to strengthen their affiliation with Jerusalem. The activity also included competitions and musical performance by BU student Mohammad karaka. The activity was concluded by honoring guests and students participating in the team competitions.

“Do Not Hesitate” Campaign
Student Senate under the supervision of the Dean of Students Office organized an awareness campaign about breast cancer by distributing brochures about its risks and prevention. They also organized a lecture to induce early examination in which a woman who survived cancer shared her story.

Majdal Dabka and Wajd Musical Groups Participate in Reunion Gathering
Majdal Dabka and Wajd Musical groups under the supervision of the Dean of Students Office participated in the reunion gathering of Hotel Management and Tourism graduates held on Friday, 19 October 2018 in the Auditorium. We thank all students who took part in this event. You were amazing.

Student Participates in the 14th Bahrain Universities Model United Nations
Through the coordination of the Higher Council for Youth and Sports and with the cooperation of the Dean of Students Office, the student George Bael was nominated to represent Palestine in the 14th Bahrain Universities Model United Nations which will be held from Saturday, 20 October until Wednesday, 24 october 2018. We wish George, the student from the Shucri Ibrahim Dabdoub Faculty of Business Administration, all the best and success.

E-class Training Workshop
On Friday, 12 October 2018, AVP for Information Technology Services, Mr. Philip Daoud, conducted an e-class training workshop for teachers of Qubeibeh Campus. The workshop included an introduction of the e-class platform, and explanation of how it can be used for announcements, uploading files, assignments and taking attendance. The teachers raised many questions and shared their views regarding taking attendance. They also expressed their satisfaction with the workshop.

Chairperson of the Arabic Department Dr. Said Ayyad presented a research paper entitled “the Culture of Religious Dialogue and Interpretation” in a symposium organized by the Beit Sahour Cultural Divan and moderated by Dr. Qustandi Shohmali. The paper presented the intellectual structure of religious dialogue and the acceptance of others. Dr. Ziyad Banishamsa presented another research paper entitled “Accepting Others in Religious Texts” in which he reviewed the most important texts. Intellectuals, authors, media professionals, and students from the Bethlehem University attended the symposium that was followed by extensive discussions.

Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism

We have nominated two of our Masters in Tourism Studies Alumni, Ghadeer Najjar and Adel Adam, to apply for the Autumn school at the Center for Advanced Studies in Tourism at the University of Bologna. They were both accepted and they will spend six weeks in Italy to study sustainable tourism development. This project is fully financed by the Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS), with the University of Bologna and implemented by its Center for Advanced Studies in Tourism (CAST) and the Centro Universitario di Bertinoro (Ce.U.B.).
