Dean of Students Office

Seminar on Social Ethics and Dealing with Problems

Ahdaf Group from the Social Activations Unit in the Dean of Students Office organized a seminar on “social ethics and dealing with problems” on Thursday, 11 October 2018. Students, teachers and guests attended the seminar which was led by Mr. Usama Khalilieyh, lecturer in the Faculty of Business Administration. It aimed to give the space and opportunity to the different groups to discuss the concept of problem and its connection with social ethics. There was an effective discussion that motivated the audience to think, and to understand the facts and causes of problems in our lives. It also motivated young people to think outside the box, criticize the reality of life, and criticize themselves.

Drama Group Trainings

Twelve students participated in the trainings of the Dean of Students’ Drama group. The coach of the group, Mr. Mohammad Sha’lan, volunteered to prepare them to participate in the Drama competition which will be organized by the Ministry of Higher Education in cooperation with the Student Activities Committee in the Palestinian Universities. The competition will be held at the end of the Fall semester 2018. We thank Mr. Sha’lan and our students for their efforts, and we wish them all the best and success.

Palestinian - Indian Youth Exchange Program

Students Majd Hawwash, Dalia Shhadeh, and Basil Abu Aita participated in the “Palestinian – Indian Youth Exchange” that was organized by the Higher Council for Youth and Sports from 1 to 8 October 2018. 51 students from Palestinian Universities also participated in the program. The delegation met with the Palestinian Ambassador in India, Mr. Mohammad Abu El Haija. The visit aimed to exchange experiences between Palestinian and Indian youths, as well as to build bridges of communication between them. The delegation visited many cities in addition to historical and archaeological sites in India.

First Aid Training Workshop

On Wednesday, 3 October 2018, a workshop on types and management of bone fractures, choking, and CPR was held by senior nursing students taking “NURS 336” course under the supervision of Sister Mary Yousef.  The workshop was held in cooperation with Biddo Municipality Ambulance Services and targeted first year nursing students in addition to 11th grade male students of Al-Mughtaribeen School to enrich the students' portfolio “Enjaz”.

The workshop included a presentation and demonstration by senior students and three graduates who helped with the cases of choking and CPR. By the end of the workshop, the school students were impressed and learned a lot.

After the activity, we received a call from Al Mughtaribeen School requesting to arrange the same activity for the school girls’ class. We are happy to respond to the call.

Lecture by Brother Peter Irolano

On Thursday, 4 October 2018, Br. Peter Irolano visited first year students in Qubeibeh campus. He presented the mission and values of Bethlehem University, which are based on the Catholic Lasallian congregation, following the steps of their founder Jean Baptiste de La Salle. He said that Bethlehem University served Palestinians regardless of their race, ethnicity or religion, aiming to provide high standards of learning based on critical thinking. Bethlehem University also protects the dignity of the human being. Brother Irolano concluded by saying that students choose Bethlehem University in order to learn, therefore their sole purpose of their four years studying journey should focus on serving the common good.

Department of Arabic

The Arabic Language and Media department hosted Al-Mahed TV in cooperation with Palestine Wildlife Society. This was part of training media students on how to conduct talk shows. The episode was about the role of media in environmental awareness. Students actively participated in asking questions during the episode.
