Celebrating the start of the new academic year

As per Bethlehem University’s longstanding tradition, the Mass of the Holy Spirit was held on Thursday, September 7th 2017 to celebrate the start of the new academic year.  The annual Mass, held at the university’s Chapel of the Divine Child, was attended by the faculty, staff, students and members of the Board of Trustees, who joined in prayer and reflection.

In his homily, Father Dobromir Jasztal, Vicar of the Custody of the Holy Land, emphasized the importance of education, commending Bethlehem University’s role in providing quality higher education to young Palestinians.  Father Jasztal was joined by Father Iyad Twal and Father Hisham Chemali.

Vice Chancellor Brother Peter Bray stressed, in his opening remarks, Bethlehem University’s “mission to educate,” as well as the university’s strong commitment to performing God’s work through education.  Brother Peter referred to the “ability and the desire to make Palestine a better place,” and encouraged all in attendance to offer a prayer of thanksgiving for the many blessings bestowed upon the BU community.

Towards the end of the Mass, Brother Peter Bray expressed gratitude to all the attendees with special mention to those who arranged for the Mass and wished everyone a successful academic year.
