USAID Representatives Visit Bethlehem University
On Friday, November 11th, Mr. Jerry O’Brien, Acting Director of USAID’s Office of American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA), and Mr. Zack Feris, Program Manager at USAID-ASHA, visited Bethlehem University. The guests were invited by Dr. Irene Hazou, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Bethlehem University, Brother Neil Kieffe, Resources Developer, and Mr. Isaac Sahhar, Assistant Vice President for Advancement, to a lunch at the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism. Prior to the screening of a video about Bethlehem University, Dr. Hazou expressed gratitude for USAID-ASHA’s contributions to the university. She pointed out that the contributions USAID-ASHA has made to Bethlehem University since 1977 have enabled the university to fulfill its mission statement which is to provide quality higher education to people in Palestine. Brother Neil proceeded to give a presentation about the long and fruitful association Bethlehem University has with USAID-ASHA. He not only presented about past projects, but also proposed plans for possible future projects.
The USAID-ASHA representatives had the chance to meet with Student Ambassadors where they had a discussion about Bethlehem University’s positive impact in the community. The group went on to receive a tour of campus and visited the locations of projects supported by USAID-ASHA. The guests were impressed with Bethlehem University and expressed wishes to visit again in the near future.
