Prince of Kuwait donates an electric wheel chair to a Bethlehem University student

Bethlehem University is grateful for His Royal Highness, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Ruler of Kuwait and the Commander of the Army.

On the morning of Tuesday 16th September 2014, Bethlehem University student; Miss Doaa Tbkhi, who comes from Hebron, received her first electrical wheel chair since she was born with her severe disability. For years, she was using a manual wheel chair, which resulted in apparent bruises on her palms.

Few days ago, the Head Representative of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (K.R.C.S) in Palestine, Madame Reda Khader, visited our campus, and during her visit, she became aware of Doaa and her desperate need.  Madame Khader, then arranged for the chair to be delivered to our campus in less than three days-time.

The happiness and smile on the face of Doaa were very visible, and her father who is a blacksmith with low income and supporting a large family, many of them are suffering from different forms of disabilities, could not help but to shed few tears.  He thanked K.R.C.S, and prayed to their leader; Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, that God may grant him long and joyful life.

Bethlehem University takes this opportunity to express its congratulation to Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on his recent naming by the UN a “Humanitarian Leader” and designating Kuwait as a center for humanitarian action as “another national celebration.” The UN Secretary General conferred the title to His Highness, the Amir at the UN Headquarters in New York in an official ceremony on Tuesday of last week.
