Catholic Theological Union Members Visit Bethlehem University

A group of 14 members of the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago visited Bethlehem University on Tuesday, 4 September 2012, a visit that included meetings with staff and students on campus.

The visitors were accompanied on their tour of the campus by a number of university faculty and staff, and were then welcomed at Furno Hall by Br. Cyril Litecky, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor. Br. Cyril highlighted the important role Bethlehem University plays in Palestinian society.

The group, mainly composed of leaders, ministers, and some students of CTU, watched a short video entitled “Beacon of Hope,” featuring Bethlehem University’s commitment and encouragement of its students.

They also had an interesting discussion with some of the students, asking them about their hopes and dreams, as well as the difficulties they face as Palestinian students. The students explained to the guests the problems they cope with in terms of mobility and having to cross military checkpoints on daily basis in order to get to school.  The discussion also focused on the role of women in the Palestinian society.

This visit reflects the deep relationship between Bethlehem University and the Catholic Theological Union. Another visit to Bethlehem University by members of the CTU is planned in less than two weeks.
