Library Liaison Team (LLT) holds its Fall Meeting

Thursday, 26th of October was the date set for the LLT meeting. Convoked at 11:00 AM, in L-005, eleven representatives from the various faculties and departments along with three presenters from the Library came together in a lively discussion and interaction. This year, the Library is very fortunate to host a visiting Fulbright Research fellow who is herself a Librarian, Ms. Claudia Dold, from the University of South Florida (Tampa, USA). Claudia spoke on the importance of the research process in classroom teaching and learning, and offered her availability to facilitate the design of a research handbook for faculties and departments.

The theme “BU Library, at the cutting edge of library design and facilities – enhanced services for the academic community” was at the centerpiece of the day’s meeting. This year’s LLT coordinator, Ms. Juana Juha – Librarian-in-charge of Circulation Services – happily welcomed the representatives: Mr. Hussam Wahhab, Faculty of Business; Dr. Khalil Issa, Arabic Department; Ms. Reem Zeitoun, Chemistry Department; Mr. Nader Abu Sa’ad, Computer Information Systems Department; Ms. Rima Dabdoub, English Department; Ms. Samar Ghattas, Humanities Department; Ms. Rania AbdelNour, Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism; Dr. Haifa Kuncar, Mathematics Department; Mr. Ahmad Atiyah, Physics Department; Rev. Father Hicham Chimaly, SJ, Religious Department; and Dr. Nahida Al Arja, Social Sciences Department.

Juana Juha with Mr. Mike Hazboun, Librarian-in-charge of Digital Services and Mrs. Vera Koussa, Head of the English Technical Services addressed the remarkable progress and developments which technology has decidedly contributed to library science and online information. In effect, the University Library – starting with the implementation of RFID technology – has effectively embraced the challenges and advantages technology has offered to enhance the spectrum of services being currently offered.
