Hala Nassar, Ph.D.

Dr. Hala Khamis Nassar is an Associate Professor, an Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Bethlehem University and the Director of the Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Nassar holds a Ph.D. in Performing Arts & Middle Eastern Studies from the Free University in Berlin. She had previously studied at Birzeit University, Scotland, and the USA. She had taught at Berkeley University, Evergreen State College, Columbia University, the University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign, and at Yale University from 2001-2016. Her research expertise focuses on the history of Arab theatre in general and Palestinian cultural production and theatre in specific. She has taught and published widely on the topic in peer-reviewed journals.
