Biography
Brother Hernán Santos González, FSC, PhD, is a dedicated member of the Lasallian District of Argentina-Paraguay, deeply committed to advancing education and nurturing the development of individuals and communities. With a rich background in higher education and a proven track record of transformative leadership, Brother Hernán currently serves as the Vice Chancellor (President) of Bethlehem University.
His journey in educational leadership began with his role as Principal (President) at the Diocesan Teacher Training College in Capiibary, Paraguay, where he spearheaded significant initiatives to enhance teacher education. Under his guidance, a new educational system for training teachers was developed and subsequently approved by the Ministry of Education in 2020. His visionary leadership also led to the successful process of Institutional Accreditation by the National Agency for Accreditation of Higher Education in 2021, marking a significant milestone for the institution. Brother Hernán’s commitment to innovation was evident in the implementation of new didactic strategies integrating technology into teacher training, ensuring the college remained at the forefront of educational excellence.
As a member of the Ibero-American Network of Teacher Education (RIED-OAS), Brother Hernán actively contributed to advancing educational practices. His project “Cuentos Viajeros” earned him the seed prize in 2021, and he received special mention at the ITEN-OAS Virtual Seminar in 2022, underscoring his dedication to fostering innovative teaching methodologies.
Brother Hernán’s passion for education extends beyond his administrative roles. He has served as a professor in various disciplines, including Spanish Language, Social Sciences, and Information Technology, imparting knowledge and inspiring students to reach their full potential.
Prior to his tenure in Paraguay, Brother Hernán held roles in educational and pastoral leadership in Argentina, including coordinating the Malvinas Archdiocesan Catechesis Seminar and serving as a New Testament Professor for the Pontifical Mission Societies.
Throughout his career, Brother Hernán has demonstrated exemplary skills in empowering leadership, strategic planning, team building, and interpersonal communication. His ability to navigate complex challenges with grace and his unwavering dedication to the holistic development of students and communities make him a highly respected leader in the field of education.
