The Sir John McGuckin Mentoring and Internship Program was established in 2010 and named after the former Lieutenant of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (EOHSJ) – USA Northwestern Lieutenancy, who mentored young people in their lives and careers. The program is supported by gifts from the Grand Magesterium in the Vatican, USA Northwestern Lieutenancy, the Canadian Atlantic Lieutenancy, CNEWA-USA, CNEWA-Canada, Pontifical Mission for Palestine, the Italian Ministry for Youth, and a number of private donors.
In summer 2013, 10 Bethlehem University students are participating in six-week internships in various locations around the United States – from California to Iowa to Washington, DC. The internship placement sites were established through the generous and kind efforts of Catholic Charities USA and Georgetown University.
The interns are sharing their experiences this summer through a blog – posting about their internship experience and new skills acquired, sharing photos and stories of their host families, and reflecting on local events and cultural experiences. Please visit the blog, which is updated twice weekly throughout the program, www.bethlehem.edu, and check back for information about local events with interns in your area!
