Occupational Therapy Students Lead Community Project-Based Learning Initiative

In February, third-year Occupational Therapy students at Bethlehem University successfully implemented a Community Project-Based Learning initiative as part of their Community-Based Rehabilitation Course (OCTH313). Inspired by the university’s Transformative Development Model, the project took place over two weeks in two locations: 21 February at Daughters of Charity – Crèche, Bethlehem, and on 28 February at Al-Yasmin Kindergarten at Lajee’ Center, Aida Camp.

The initiative aimed to provide hands-on learning experiences while fostering inclusivity and empowerment. Through interactive sessions, the students engaged children in activities designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills, cognitive development, sensory processing, communication, and social interaction. These creative exercises not only supported the children’s developmental and emotional needs but also promoted self-confidence and social engagement.

Beyond benefiting the children, this initiative served as a vital professional development experience for the students, reinforcing their future roles as occupational therapists committed to community service, early intervention, and holistic rehabilitation.
