The Transformative Educational Model is a teaching and learning model based on andragogy, which prioritizes adult learners’ autonomy, self-directed learning, and experiential knowledge. It seeks to achieve “Education 4.0” by integrating technology, including AI, and active learning methodologies. The model has three key components: synchronous, asynchronous, and community.
- Synchronous Component: This involves learner-centered classroom dynamics using methods such as Project-Based Learning (PBL), Problem-Based Learning, flipped classrooms, STEAM education, gamification, service-based learning, research-based learning, case studies, and Socratic questioning.
- Asynchronous Component: This uses the university’s Learning Management System (LMS), Moodle (Eclass), for online activities and resources. A key aspect of this component is sound instructional design.
- Community Component: This component aims to connect academia with society through service-based learning projects that address local challenges. These projects can be direct, indirect, research-based, or advocacy-based.

- Foundational Knowledge: Equip faculty with a strong understanding of the Transformative Educational Model, its connection to the evolving educational directions, and its benefits for student learning.
- Andragogical Skills: Develop faculty expertise in innovative teaching methodologies aligned with Bethlehem University’s educational vision, focusing on active learning, student-centered approaches, and technology integration.
- Curriculum Redesign: Guide educators in redesigning their course outlines to integrate the new approaches of the Transformative Educational Model, ensuring alignment with the university’s educational goals.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop faculty skills in designing assessments that accurately measure student learning outcomes within the educational framework.
- Technology Integration: Enhance faculty confidence in effectively using technology to support teaching, learning, and assessment.
