Bethlehem University is proud to have participated in the Mental Health and Youth Well-being Tools Competition, held online on Wednesday, 8 January 2024. This initiative, organized by the Palestinian Medical Relief Society in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Palestinian universities, aims to promote youth-friendly health services and foster innovative solutions to meet the mental health and well-being needs of young people in Palestine.
The competition featured 21 finalists from several universities, including Bethlehem University, Palestine Ahliya University, Birzeit University, and Al-Quds University. Participants presented their creative tools to a judging panel comprised of academic experts, practitioners, and representatives from partnering institutions including Dr. Mohammad Awad, Dean of Students at Bethlehem University.
The competition celebrated seven winners, with Bethlehem University proudly represented among the top three.
First Place: Iman Adel Herzallah, Islamic University of Gaza
Second Place: Muntaha Naif Abed, Birzeit University
Third Place: Kawthar Kamal Suleiman, Bethlehem University
Fourth Place: Nawal Mohammad Jaddou, Al-Aqsa University – Gaza
Fifth Place: Mayar Moatasem Hammouri, Palestine Ahliya University
Sixth Place: Israa Osama Qasrawi, Al-Quds University
Seventh Place: Wafa Emad Feteha, Gaza
Kawthar Kamal Suleiman, Bethlehem University’s third-place winner, showcased an innovative tool designed to support mental health and well-being among Palestinian youth. Kawthar expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful initiative and for the platform to share her creative ideas.
The competition served as a platform to highlight the importance of mental health tools in youth-friendly spaces and emphasized the power of innovation in addressing societal challenges. Participants’ ideas will be further supported, with the top 15 finalists having their tools produced and distributed.
