PIBS Organizes Nature Exploration for Scout Troop

On Friday, 27 September 2024, the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) partnered with the Cremisan Salesian Convent to organize a nature and biodiversity visit for 25 children from the Terra Sancta Scout Troop. The goal of the program was to increase the children’s awareness and appreciation for the environment.

The day began with a guided hike through the woods surrounding the Cremisan Valley. During the hike, the children explored the diverse plant and tree species, observed wildlife, and learned about the importance of preserving natural habitats.

After the hike, the group engaged in two hands-on activities to reinforce their learning. First, they created nature journals, documenting their observations and new knowledge through drawings and notes. Second, they made decorative candle jars using colorful fall leaves they had collected, creatively expressing their newfound connection to nature.

The visit was designed to deepen the children’s understanding of the natural world and inspire a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation.
