On Thursday, 15 August 2024, the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Imad Eldine Al-Baba, Director of the Protected Areas and Biodiversity Department at the Environment Quality Authority (EQA).
The visit was part of the ongoing project funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), titled “Science-Based Conservation of Wetlands in Two KBAs in the State of Palestine.” As a key component of this project, PIBS has been developing an Evaluation and Management Plan for Protected Areas (PAs) containing wetlands in the Jordan Valley over the past few months.
During the meeting, the focus was on reviewing the draft of this plan. Discussions centered on evaluating its progress, examining its key components, and ensuring that it aligns with best practices for managing and protecting these vital ecosystems.
In addition to the review, the meeting provided an opportunity to explore ways to enhance collaboration between PIBS and EQA. Strategies were discussed to strengthen their partnership and advance shared objectives in biodiversity conservation and sustainable management, with the goal of leveraging the combined expertise and resources of both organizations for more effective preservation of natural heritage.
