Layth Awwad, an English Department instructor, presented his research titled “Breaking Boundaries: The Impact of Insta-Poetry on English Pedagogy in Palestine” at the TESOL 2023: International Convention and English Language Expo in Portland, Oregon, USA. The presentation was part of the a panel titled “Palestinian Educators and Friends: Linking Hands Across Separation Walls” that was held on 23 March 2023.
Awwad discussed his approach of teaching poetry through Instagram, which he called “Insta-Poetry” to English majors at Bethlehem University and the pedagogical implications of this method. He also highlighted the @BU.Writes Instagram account where students’ creative pieces are shared to inspire future students. He is currently working on publishing his research.
