The Annual Library Liaison meeting took place on 28th October’21 from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM in the Garden Level of the Library – L005.
Ms. Elizabeth D’souza, Library Director, welcomed Fr. Iyad Twal and all the representatives of different departments to the meeting. Dr. Irene Hazou expressed her desire to attend but could not make it due to unexpected work. She then explained the vision, mission and the objectives of the library wherein the library is the source of knowledge which leads to lifelong teaching and learning.
The staff of the library took turns in explaining different aspects, Miral Khoury explained about the electronic resources, digitized books etc, Juana Juha explained library loan policies, book inventory using the DLA (Digital Library Assistant), online booking of discussion rooms. Valerie Rock explained online library skills course which was named as “First-Year Experience”, she also talked about the OPAC and RFID kiosk and demonstrated the quick links on the library homepage. Vera Koussa demonstrated the Learning and Teaching Corner which is located in the second floor. She stressed the importance of buying e-books and explained the budget and encouraged the faculty to bring students to the library for a tour and know the various facilities. Sr. Rose Amacanin gave the information about the Archives and the scanning process using OpenKM.
Fr. Iyad Twal, addressed the participants encouraging the use of resources so as to reach the standards of higher education and library being the source of knowledge to reach out to the students and the local community through programs and activities.
The meeting was attended by all the representatives. There was a good discussion and questions were clarified and suggestions were taken into consideration. The meeting ended with refreshments.
