Nursing Student Receives Farida Al-Budeiri Award 

The Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences organized a ceremony to honor the nursing student who won the Farida Abu Dayyah Al-Budeiri award on Thursday November 2nd 2017.

The $1,000 award is annually given to the graduate of the nursing faculty with the highest grades. Sawsan Khamayseh (BU'17), who graduated with 3.75 as her accumulative GPA, won this year’s award. In her inspiring speech, she described her journey at Bethlehem University as being unforgettable and expressed her sincere thanks to her teachers.

Executive Vice President of Bethlehem University, Dr. Michael Sansour, thanked Al-Budeiri family for their support and encouraged the students who attended the event to excel in their studies.

Dean of Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences, Ms. Mariam Awad, welcomed Al-Budeiri family and thanked them for annually honoring the top nursing student. She also acknowledged the nursing faculty members for their work and support they provide to their students.

In 1995, the son of Farida Abu Dayyah Al-Budeiri, Jamil, began the award in honor of his late mother who was one of the first Palestinian nurses. She finished her degree in nursing from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. She worked as a nurse in Beit Jala and Jerusalem.
