Bethlehem University and the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration in green technologies, agro-businesses, and sustainable innovation. The signing ceremony took place at ARIJ’s headquarters in Bethlehem, with senior representatives from both institutions in attendance.
Representing Bethlehem University were Br. Hernan Santos, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Fadi Kattan, Executive Vice President, along with other Bethlehem University officials. ARIJ was represented by its President, Mr. Suleiman Abu Dayyeh, and Director General, Dr. Jad Isaac, in addition to board members and senior staff.
During the meeting, Dr. Jad Isaac provided an overview of ARIJ’s history, scope of work, and impact in Palestine. Br. Hernan Santos then introduced Bethlehem University’s transition towards a transformative educational model and emphasized the alignment of this approach with ARIJ’s initiatives. Both institutions explored ways to expand their cooperation in the future, particularly in the fields of green technology and sustainable development.
The MOU, which will remain in effect for three years, establishes a structured framework for collaboration between Bethlehem Business Incubator (BBI) & Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC) at Bethlehem University and ARIJ. The agreement aims to promote and support the development and implementation of green technologies in Palestine, and foster the growth of agro-businesses through sustainable practices. In addition, this collaboration will encourage innovation in sustainable green solutions, in addition to engaging research and development projects in green technology and agro-business. Under this MoU, series of training and capacity-building opportunities will be provided for local communities and businesses.
By formalizing this partnership, Bethlehem University and ARIJ reaffirm their shared commitment to fostering sustainable solutions that benefit Palestinian society and contribute to environmental resilience. The agreement paves the way for increased cooperation in research, training, and the promotion of eco-friendly technologies, further reinforcing Palestine’s position as a leader in sustainable development.
