Bethlehem University Explores Future Cooperation with the Swiss Representative Office in Palestine

Bethlehem University welcomed Mrs. Anne-Lise Cattin Hennin, the Swiss Representative to the Palestinian Authority, along with Mr. Philipp Beutler, Head of Cooperation and Mr. Ghassan Al Jamal, National Program Manager, on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, to discuss potential collaboration in advancing educational and empowerment initiatives in Palestine.

The meeting was attended by Br. Hernán Santos FSC, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University, Dr. Fadi Kattan, Executive Vice President of Bethlehem University, Br. Jack Curran, Vice President for Advancement and Dr. Luigi Bisceglia, MICAD/MGAPS Program Coordinator and VIS Representative. The discussion provided an opportunity to introduce Bethlehem University’s mission and academic model while also highlighting the role of the Swiss Representative Office in supporting development and humanitarian efforts in Palestine.

Br. Hernán Santos FSC presented an overview of the university’s transformative educational approach, emphasizing its commitment to academic excellence, social impact, and leadership development. Discussions also focused on the role of the Bethlehem Business Incubator (BBI) and the Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC) in youth and women empowerment, particularly in the southern West Bank. These initiatives equip young entrepreneurs and women with the necessary skills and resources to drive social and economic change.

Both parties explored potential future fields of cooperation, with a focus on strengthening support for educational, entrepreneurial, and community development programs.

Following the discussions, the Swiss delegation toured Bethlehem University’s campus, gaining firsthand insight into its facilities, academic programs, and the vibrant student community.

Bethlehem University remains committed to expanding strategic partnerships with international institutions and diplomatic missions to further its mission of providing quality higher education and fostering sustainable development in Palestine.
