On Friday, 24 January 2025, Bethlehem University held its faculty and staff meeting to mark the beginning of the new academic semester – Spring 2025. Faculty and administrative staff gathered at the Anton Sansur Hall on campus to discuss university updates, initiatives, and future plans.
The meeting opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Iman Saca, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who expressed hope and optimism for the semester ahead despite the challenges faced in Palestine.
The meeting began with a prayer and reflection led by Fr. Garrett Gundlach, followed by a presentation from Brother Hernan Santos, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University. Br. Hernan shared the university’s strategic plan for 2025–2030, which focuses on three key priorities: enhancing administrative and technical operations, promoting academic excellence, and strengthening international collaboration.
One of the key announcements was the establishment of the Academic Innovation Hub, a new initiative aimed at improving teaching methodologies and elevating the quality of education. Updates were also shared on the development of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Technology, and Engineering, including plans to introduce new programs in partnership with ECAM La Salle, a French university. This collaboration is set to launch an advanced engineering program, equipping students with skills for the global job market.
Another major initiative highlighted during the meeting was the ongoing transformation of the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism into a specialized faculty, demonstrating Bethlehem University’s commitment to expanding its academic portfolio and meeting market demands.
Faculty Deans also introduced newly appointed faculty and staff members who recently joined the university community. Updates on the academic and administrative departments were also presented. Prof. Iman elaborated on academic developments, placing particular emphasis on the Academic Innovation Hub’s current and future role in enhancing academic performance and teaching standards.
Sr. Corazon Hinlo, Vice President for Financial Affairs, provided an overview of the university’s financial status, comparing the previous fiscal year with the current one. She highlighted both the challenges and achievements in managing recurring expenses and revenues.
The meeting concluded with remarks from Br. Jack Curran, Vice President for Advancement, who emphasized the importance of expanding Bethlehem University’s international network and fundraising initiatives. These efforts are crucial for sustaining the university’s operations and achieving its long-term strategic objectives.
