Zbierski Library Inspires Students with “Books Nourish the Mind and Soul” Activity

On Friday, 13 December 2024, the Zbierski Library organized an inspiring activity titled “Books Nourish the Mind and Soul.” The event aimed to encourage students to embrace reading and discover its transformative impact on the mind and soul.

Ms. Vera Koussa, Head of the English Technical Services at the Library, warmly welcomed everyone and introduced Mwayad Aldarawish, a final-year student, who led the session.

Mwayad led an engaging and thought-provoking session that sparked insightful discussions among participants. He highlighted the concerning results of a survey showing that 24% of respondents identified as non-readers, shedding light on the challenges faced in cultivating a reading culture.

The discussion then turned to practical solutions, where Mwayad shared strategies to begin a reading journey, including setting realistic goals and creating consistent habits. To further support attendees, he provided a helpful resource link https://libgen.is for getting started. The activity concluded with open discussion.

Library Director, Ms. Elizabeth D’Souza, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Mwayad for his informative presentation and enthusiastic engagement. Special thanks were extended to Sana Salsa and Vera Koussa for their unwavering support in making the event a success.

The Zbierski Library continues to foster a love for reading and intellectual growth through such impactful initiatives.
