Patent in the Area of Wireless Communications with Drones’ Aid

Entitled: Apparatus and Method to Relay A Transmission

The Faculty of Applied Sciences, Technology, and Engineering represented by Dean of the faculty, Dr. Ghassan Handal congratulates Dr. Anas Salhab, Chairperson of the Engineering Department for registering a patent issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the field of drone-aided wireless communications.

In this new invention Dr. Salhab proposes a new efficient method to conduct wireless communications between a transmitter and a receiver with the aid of drones. The new method aimed at saving the energy of drones’ batteries by activating the minimum number of drones based on the wireless communications need for that. Once the communication gets below a certain quality, one more drone is added to the pool of active drones. It is worth mentioning that this invention comes in line with the new sustainable energy engineering program which Bethlehem Univeristy is currently offering for the second year.
