The Interactive Media and Communication Program at Bethlehem University hosted award-winning British journalist and documentary filmmaker Jessica Kelly, renowned for her investigative films.
The event featured a screening of Kelly’s work in Iraq and Palestine, followed by a discussion with students about the challenges of producing such films and their broader impact.
Kelly spoke about topics ranging from human rights to climate change, highlighting how her films shed light on marginalized issues and advocate for justice. She expressed her strong commitment to the Palestinian cause, aiming to challenge Western media bias, particularly regarding women’s rights and the apartheid system.
This event was part of the “Documentary Film” course, taught by Ms. Tamara Abu Laban, which introduces students to various documentary styles and their role in shaping public opinion, while also offering them the opportunity to create their own films.
