As Dean of Students since March 2023, Dr. Mohammad Awad brings a transformative vision to Bethlehem University, inspired by over 20 years of experience in nonprofit management, international business, and public administration. With a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas in Public Administration, specializing in Nonprofit Management, Dr. Awad combines academic excellence with real-world leadership—an ideal fit for the university’s mission to empower students to serve and transform their communities with ethical and professional excellence.
Dr. Awad’s Vision for Bethlehem University Students
Dr. Awad’s leadership reflects his commitment to student empowerment and his strategic goals for the future align with Bethlehem University’s mission to develop compassionate, community-focused leaders. His vision for the student experience is built around several new initiatives aimed at enriching student life and career readiness:
Establishing a Career Center: Dr. Awad is spearheading the development of a Career Center to provide students with essential resources for their professional journeys. Through career counseling, skills workshops, and networking opportunities, students will be prepared to enter the workforce with confidence and purpose.
Creating a Youth-Friendly Health Center: Recognizing the importance of holistic well-being, Dr. Awad is creating a Youth-Friendly Health Center, where students can access health resources and support systems, empowering them to thrive both academically and personally.
Debate Club Partnership: In collaboration with Birzeit, Al-Najah, and Khodory Universities, Dr. Awad is launching a Debate Club to foster critical thinking, public speaking skills, and civic engagement among students. This initiative supports the university’s mission by encouraging students to actively participate in societal dialogue and contribute positively to their communities.
A Commitment to Collaboration and Capacity Building
Throughout his career, Dr. Awad has demonstrated a passion for capacity building and collaborative partnerships. As a founding member of the Association of Middle Eastern Public Policy and Administration (AMEPPA) and with extensive experience in program management for international NGOs, Dr. Awad has a proven track record of building relationships that empower local communities. At Bethlehem University, he is cultivating partnerships with Palestinian civil society organizations and international NGOs to create opportunities that reflect the values and mission of the university.
