Empowering Future Journalists at Bethlehem University

The Department of Arabic Language at Bethlehem University’s Faculty of Arts organized a field trip for Interactive Media students to the picturesque village of Battir, west of Bethlehem. This educational journey took place on Thursday, 31 October 2024, with the guidance of faculty members and in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in Bethlehem.

During the visit, students were welcomed by Zaki Al-Batma, the Mayor of Battir, who provided insights into the village’s rich history and the challenges it faces, particularly in light of recent conflicts.

The trip included explorations through the village’s charming alleys and terraced fields, where students captured stunning photographs and videos of the heritage sites. This hands-on experience allowed them to apply the skills learned in their courses on mobile journalism, photography, and sound editing, enhancing their practical expertise alongside their academic knowledge.

In a notable initiative, the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Interactive Media Program, announced a competition for the best media production, including photography, reels, and journalistic stories created by students. Winners will be announced following a review of their work.

Bethlehem University is dedicated to equipping students with the skills and experiences necessary to thrive in the media landscape, fostering creativity and a deep appreciation for cultural heritage.
