Educational Activities to Promote Environmental Awareness at PIBS

The Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability remains dedicated to engaging the community through a variety of weekly activities, each introducing new topics and reaching diverse audiences. On Thursday, 31 October 2024, they hosted a webinar titled “Priorities and Strategy for Action on Environment in Crisis: Street-Proven Design and Lessons for Palestine.” This session, part of an ongoing series, provided practical, community-driven solutions to environmental challenges in crisis contexts, empowering local leaders and community members with tailored strategies for effective action in Palestine.

Simultaneously, the Palestine Museum of Natural History welcomed student groups for interactive educational visits. On Monday, 28 October 2024, they hosted 80 fifth- and sixth-grade students from the Shepherds’ School in Beit Sahour, followed by tenth-grade students from Mar Ephraim Syrian School on Thursday, 31 October 2024. During these visits, students explored the museum’s natural history and ethnography exhibits, toured the botanical garden, interacted with various animals, and learned how they can make a positive impact on the environment.

To celebrate World Ecology Day on Friday, 1 November 2024, the museum organized a mini-ecosystem building activity using recycled plastic bottles, which is part of their weekly educational programs aimed at fostering environmental awareness through hands-on, engaging experiences.
