Last week, the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) conducted visits to four marginalized schools in the Jordan Valley using its Mobile Educational Unit, the first of its kind in Palestine. This initiative aims to reach a diverse range of students, universities, and remote communities throughout the West Bank.
With support from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and in collaboration with the Heritage Preservation Center, PIBS visited Aqbat Jaber Boys’ Elementary School and Ein Sultan Girls’ School, both operated by UNRWA, as well as Fasayil Mixed Secondary School and Al-Auja Girls’ Secondary School, which are supervised by the Ministry of Education.
During these visits, the PIBS team introduced students to Palestine’s rich biodiversity, highlighting the network of nature reserves and the vital role wetlands play in enhancing ecological diversity.
The visits will continue to additional schools in the coming week and throughout the year, with the goal of fostering a deeper understanding of environmental issues among students and surrounding communities.
