The Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS), in partnership with Women Media and Development/TAM and the Nahalin Municipality, wrapped up a series of four engaging workshops aimed at establishing a Women’s Environmental Center in Nahalin.
These workshops were designed to equip the founding members with the essential knowledge and skills they need to run the center effectively and create programs that specifically benefit women and children while also serving the wider community.
The final workshop in this series took place on Monday, 14 October 2024, and was titled “Empowering Women Through Sustainable Practices: Addressing Climate Change and Gender Issues.” It focused on the important environmental challenges posed by climate change and how they affect women. Participants had the opportunity to learn about different plant families and their classifications, as well as the benefits of aromatherapy.
In a hands-on activity, they even created their own skincare products, such as face moisturizers and serums, using organic waste. This practical approach emphasized skills that promote sustainability and help reduce waste. Ultimately, the goal of this workshop was to empower women with the knowledge and tools they need to make a positive impact in their communities and help protect the environment.
PIBS is excited about the potential of this remarkable group of women to successfully manage the center and is dedicated to supporting similar initiatives across different communities, aiming to empower women and foster sustainable practices everywhere. Through these efforts, PIBS seeks to create lasting positive change and promote environmental stewardship on a broader scale.
