Elias Juha: An Educator Shaping the Future of Hospitality

Elias Juha, a graduate of Bethlehem University’s class of 1999, has dedicated his career to the hospitality industry, following in the footsteps of his family. His journey has taken him both locally and internationally, showcasing his passion and expertise in the field.

After graduating from Bethlehem University, Elias worked at several local and international hotels. He was then awarded a scholarship to study Hotel Management at the International School for Tourism Sciences, operated by the World Tourism Organization in Italy. This international experience broadened his horizons and deepened his understanding of the global hospitality industry.

In 2002, Elias transitioned from industry to academia, taking on the role of instructor and training supervisor. His commitment to education led to his promotion to instructor and training coordinator in 2009. In 2014, he further solidified his credentials by achieving certification as a Hospitality Educator through the American Hotel & Lodging Association exam.

In 2018, Elias pursued a Master’s degree in Tourism Studies at Bethlehem University, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to academic excellence. This advanced degree equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to take on leadership roles in the field.

In September 2020, Elias was appointed Director of the Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism at Bethlehem University. In this role, he oversees the institute’s programs and initiatives, ensuring that students receive a world-class education that prepares them for successful careers in the hospitality industry.

Beyond his academic responsibilities, Elias is actively involved in educational and cultural initiatives. He serves as a member of the curricula development team for the high school Hotel Stream at the Ministry of Education and the General Hospitality Examination team at the Ministry of Higher Education. 

His research in community-based tourism has led to his involvement with the steering committee at the Palestinian Heritage Trail. Additionally, he contributes to the alumni board of Frere School Bethlehem, demonstrating his dedication to his alma mater and the community.

Elias Juha’s passion for hospitality education and his commitment to excellence have made him a respected figure in the field. As Director of the Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism, he is shaping the future of hospitality education in Palestine and beyond. His leadership, combined with his expertise and dedication, will continue to inspire and guide the next generation of hospitality professionals.
