Student Activity on The Art of Reading and Writing: “A Personal Success Story”

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the Zbierski Library hosted a student activity titled “The Art of Reading and Writing: A Personal Success Story” from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, attended by twenty-two students.

Ms. Elizabeth Dsouza, Director of the Library, welcomed the attendees and introduced Chantal Nabil Awad, a first-year student who led the presentation. Chantal shared her journey into writing, beginning with poetry and expanding into general writing. She spoke about what ignited her passion, explaining how emotions and themes like love, pain, nature, life, the past, and the future inspire her work. During the session, she read some of her poems, inviting the audience to interpret their meanings.

Chantal also discussed her reading habits, explaining how dedicating just 30 minutes a day helped her develop a consistent routine. Through a PowerPoint presentation, she highlighted her favorite authors and encouraged the students to explore their works.

The session concluded with a lively Q&A, allowing for an engaging discussion on the topics presented.

Ms. Dsouza thanked Chantal for her insightful presentation, emphasizing the strong connection between reading and writing. She remarked, “The more we read, the better we write, and vice versa—both are essential for developing language and critical thinking skills.”
