Bethlehem University is proud to announce that six of its members—three from the Department of English and Communication, Mr. Ramzi Asali, Mr. Layth Awwad, and Ms. Ruba Ayyad, and three from the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr. Hanan Saca-Hazboun, Ms. Amal Abu Nijmeh-Fakhouri, and Ms. Fatmeh Madani-Hammad, who won the Global UNISERVITATE Award with a special mention, presented their work during the virtual Regional Hub Celebration organized by UNISERVITATE to celebrate all winners on 4 October 2024. The official award ceremony will be held in Rome, Italy, in November 2024.
All winners from different Catholic Universities shared their projects in the virtual ceremony featured a panel of four jury members who commended both teams for the comprehensive design, implementation, and evaluation of their projects, as well as their success in achieving Service-Learning outcomes. The jury also expressed admiration for Bethlehem University’s distinguished academic community and its steadfast commitment to community service.
The team from the Department of English and Communication—Mr. Ramzi Asali, Mr. Layth Awwad, and Ms. Ruba Ayyad—presented their initiative, “Global Citizenship, Sustainability, and Service Learning.” In addition, Ms. Fatmeh Madani-Hammad represented the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, presenting their initiative, “Health Awareness Programs: Nursing and Midwifery Students’ Activities for Coursework,” on behalf of Dr. Hanan Saca-Hazboun, Ms. Amal Abu Nijmeh-Fakhouri, and herself.
Bethlehem University continues to demonstrate its dedication to academic excellence and meaningful community engagement, even amidst the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict in Palestine.
