The Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) continues its efforts to raise awareness about natural and environmental issues through a variety of educational activities.
Women’s Workshop on Medicinal Plants
On Thursday, August 22, 2024, PIBS held a workshop for women led by artist and nutritionist Rasha Tayeb. The workshop focused on the health benefits of medicinal plants and included a tour of the institute’s gardens to learn about sustainable farming practices. Participants also had the opportunity to make their own herbal products.
Celebrating World Bee Day
As part of the celebration of World Bee Day, PIBS organized two events to highlight the importance of bees and their protection.
- Online Seminar: An online seminar on “Assessing the Use of Herbal Plants as a Control Measure for Varroa Mites on Honeybee Colonies in Palestine” was conducted by engineer Rasha Najajra. The seminar explored natural methods for managing Varroa mites, a major threat to bee populations.
- Children’s Activity: A special event for children was held on August 23 to teach them about the life cycle of bees, their behavior, and their crucial role in biodiversity. The goal was to raise environmental awareness among the children and encourage them to become advocates for bee conservation.
These activities are part of PIBS’ ongoing commitment to educating the public about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices. By providing opportunities for learning and engagement, PIBS aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world.
