The Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University celebrated International Day for Biological Diversity with an educational activity for children on Friday, 24 May 2024.
The children first explored the institute’s botanical garden with exploration kits which consist of compasses, measuring tapes, magnifying glasses, tubes and forceps, notebooks, and pens. They gathered specimens (which were all safely released back into the wild afterward) and took notes on their observations regarding the environmental surroundings of the specimen.
They later played a food web game where they were shown the links between different species in an ecosystem and why more diversity equals a stronger system.
