Forschungszentrum Jülich FZJ & Bethlehem University BU organized a Machine Learning workshop, the Software Engineering Department at Bethlehem University participated actively in the workshop, that was held at the Forschungszentrum Jülich. This workshop received support from the Palestinian-German Science Bridge PGSB and was offered by Helmholtz AI, catering to scientists specializing in both natural and computer sciences. This insightful event spanned from August 28 to September 1, 2023.
This workshop attracted a diverse array of participants from Palestinian universities, including Birzeit University, Arab American University, An-Najah University, Hebron University, Alquds University and Palestine Polytechnic University. Scientists and postdoctoral researchers from FZJ also took part in this workshop. This blend of expertise and backgrounds significantly enriched the discussions held throughout the workshop.
The primary objective of this workshop was to introduce participants to fundamental machine learning concepts and cutting-edge techniques. Furthermore, the workshop facilitated hands-on exercises, allowing attendees to implement and harness these powerful techniques effectively.
Following the workshop sessions, two additional days were dedicated to in-depth discussions. During this period, select participants had the opportunity to showcase their research and show how it effectively utilized machine learning algorithms.
This collaborative endeavor has undoubtedly contributed to fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening the bonds between academic institutions, ultimately advancing the field of machine learning within the Palestinian scientific community.
