On 25-26 May 2023, Bethlehem University hosted the international conference titled “Current Status and Future Prospects of Service Learning.” This gathering was held under the patronage and participation of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Mahmoud Abu Mowais.
The conference was organized by the Community Partnership Institute at Bethlehem University in collaboration with the Uniservitate Foundation. Funding from Porticus and support from KU, Uniservitate, The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), and Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) made the conference possible.
The conference was designed to create a platform for scholars and professionals who share an interest in advancing Service Learning in various educational settings. Participants engaged in lively discussions and knowledge exchange surrounding topics such as the impact of Service Learning on student development, innovative integration of Service Learning into curricula, and its potential as a pedagogical tool for fostering civic engagement, critical thinking, and empathy in learners.
The two-day program included keynote presentations, interactive workshops, and poster sessions. The diverse discussions and innovative ideas exchanged at this conference promise to contribute significantly to the growth and development of Service Learning within the realm of education. The event welcomed students, faculty members, lecturers, and community partners, emphasizing the collective commitment to advancing education through Service Learning.
