Bethlehem University community is saddened by the death of Dr. John Kelly, Professor Emeritus at the University College Dublin (UCD).
Professor Kelly passed away in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday 12 November 2022. Professor. Kelly was a founder of Friends of Bethlehem University – Ireland, a longtime and enthusiastic supporter of Bethlehem University, and a recipient of an honorary doctorate from Bethlehem University in 2007.
He was a wonderful advocate for providing educational opportunities for Palestinian youth, particularly through Bethlehem University.
John Kelly was awarded a BE in Chemical Engineering from University College Dublin in 1957. Initially, he worked in industry in Ireland and the UK, from 1957 to 1963. He returned to UCD to undertake his doctorate and began lecturing. During that period he was a senior Fulbright Scholar at the University of Maryland.
