Pope Francis Appoints New Chancellor of Bethlehem University

Bethlehem University welcomes news from the Vatican on Pope Francis’ appointment of Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana as Apostolic Delegate to Jerusalem and Palestine.

The Apostolic Delegate to Jerusalem and Palestine is Pope Francis’ personal representative to the people of Palestine. It is in this role that Archbishop Yllana serves as Chancellor of Bethlehem University. He is the Holy See’s representative on University matters and acts as a chief advisor to the Vice Chancellor concerning the Holy See.

Prior to this appointment, 73-year-old Archbishop Yllana had been serving as Apostolic Nuncio to Australia. He succeeds Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, who was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to India last March.

Bethlehem University is looking forward to welcoming Archbishop Yllana when assuming office.
