The Christmas Midnight Mass was held in the Chapel of the Divine Child at Bethlehem University with limited participation amid the pandemic.
The De La Salle Christian Brothers, H.E. Mark Bailey, Australian Representative to Palestine, Andrew Carey, CNN Jerusalem Bureau Chief, and a few faculty, staff, and students attended the mass.
The Executive Vice President of Bethlehem University Rev. Dr. Iyad Twal presided over the mass.
In his Christmas homily, Rev. Dr. Iyad said “Perhaps for the first time in many Christmases, we don’t have so many external events, which allows us to go within ourselves to understand the deep joy and meaning of the coming of Jesus, the coming of the Savior, the coming of the One who will redeem us and bring us new hope and joy.”
The Vice Chancellor Brother Peter Bray wished the attendees a very Merry Christmas. He said that the “Eucharist is thanksgiving” and that we need to be thankful because God became one of us.
The beautiful Chapel always exudes a warm atmosphere, this spirit is particularly alive on Christmas Eve when worshippers give thanks to the Lord and pray for peace to prevail on earth.
Bethlehem University wishes you all a Christmas of peace and a New Year filled with hope.
