Three faculty members at the Faculty of Science gave 30 primary school teachers a training entitled “Improving Science Education in Primary Schools of Palestine – Second Phase” for four consecutive days last month in the Faculty of Science labs.
Chairperson of the Biology Department Dr. Ghassan Handal, Lab Assistant at the Chemistry Department Mr. Tanas Khoury, and Physics Department Instructor Mr. Ahmad Atiyeh gave the training.
During the opening session, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Irene Hazou welcomed the teachers on campus and wished them the best of luck.
The training targeted 30 science teachers working in 15 primary schools in the Bethlehem governorate with the objective of improving science education at schools through empowering teachers.
The training was implemented by the Teacher Creativity Center (TCC), in partnership with the Campaign for Children of Palestine (CCP) – Japan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, and funded by the Government of Japan.
Supervisors from the Ministry of Education and Bethlehem Directorate attended to ensure the training is effective and to support the continuation of teaching and learning during the pandemic.
