On Thursday, September 22nd, the Bethlehem University community celebrated the start of the new academic year by holding the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit.
Mass was held in the university’s chapel of the Divine Child, where all BU community members were welcomed to join in prayer and reflection at the start of the new academic year.
The celebrant of the Mass, Most Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the newly appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, emphasized in his homily the importance of education and commended the role Bethlehem University is playing to provide quality higher education for young Palestinians.
Vice Chancellor Brother Peter Bray opened the event with remarks emphasizing the university’s strong commitment to performing God’s work through education, and encouraged all in attendance to offer a prayer of thanksgiving for the many blessings bestowed upon the BU community.
Several BU students administered the Gospel readings in Arabic and English. Mass was attended by faculty, staff and students, in addition to members of the Board of Trustees of Bethlehem University.
